IAS-Seminar "Petascale Computing with K Computer"
Referent: | Prof. Dr. Naoya Maruyama, RIKEN Advanced Institute for Computational Science, Kobe, Japan |
Abstract: | The K computer first appeared as the fastest machine in 2011 with more than 8 PFLOPS Linpack performance, and remains to be one of the largest petascale machines with 10.5 PFLOPS. The machine consists of more than 80 thousands of compute nodes, each of which is equipped with a SPARC64 VIIIfx processor, interconnected with the Tofu torus/mesh hybrid network. RIKEN Advanced Institute for Computational Science is the research institute dedicated for operations of and research using the K Computer. This talk presents some research results using the K Computer in various fields of computational and computer sciences. We also present our effort toward exascale computing. |
