The CUPITER AI demonstrator will be expanded at the exhibition stand to include three themed zones focusing on future computing, Energy and Jülich’s research infrastructures.

Discover AI with CUPITER

The centrepiece of Forschungszentrum Jülich’s exhibition at HANNOVER MESSE was the AI demonstrator CUPITER. This interactive exhibit brings to life key research topics at Forschungszentrum Jülich in the context of artificial intelligence. CUPITER was complemented by three themed zones focusing on future computing, Energy and research infrastructures, where researchers presented current projects and opportunities for collaboration.

Future Computing

Reinventing computing: this is the vision pursued by Jülich scientists. They do pioneering work in the fields of artificial intelligence, quantum computers, and neuromorphic computers. With JUPITER, they also operate one of the world’s most powerful supercomputers for AI. In addition to technical information processing, they research how the human brain handles information.

Energy

Jülich research is aimed at developing an energy system based on renewable energy sources that helps limit climate change. Sun, wind, and storage technologies instead of coal and oil: Jülich scientists research and optimize these technologies. They take a holistic view of the future energy system and show how the transition to a net-zero future can be achieved quickly and cost-effectively.

Research Infrastructures

Supercomputers that rank among the fastest in the world, electron microscopes that make atoms visible, and MRI scanners that reveal thoughts: Jülich’s research facilities are among the most advanced in Europe. This world-class research equipment is available to a wide range of user groups from industry, business and academia. To tackle global challenges – whether climate change, the energy crisis or widespread diseases.

Forschungszentrum Jülich as an employer

Across 15 institutes comprising around 80 institute divisions, PhD students, postdocs, junior research group leaders and professors work on key areas such as information, energy and the Bioeconomy, utilising state-of-the-art facilities.
