Speaker:

Prof. Bjarne Husted, Division of Fire Safety Engineering, Lund University, Sweden

Abstract:

Turbulence is an important aspect when modelling fires. Turbulence is responsible for the entrainment of air in a fire plume, further it plays an important role for the flow around obstacles and in the modelling of spray from water mist nozzle. The talk will first present the challenges with the modelling of turbulence in RANS and LES code. Further it presents some actual experimental data, where turbulence played an important role and which have been modelled in the recent version of the Fire Dynamics Simulator.
