Dr. Joachim Pasel
Head of Department (acting) Chemistry of Fuel Synthesis.
Dr. rer. nat. Joachim Pasel heads the department "Chemistry of Fuel Synthesis" and the group Heterogeneous Catalysis in the Institute for Energy and Climate Research - Electrochemical Process Engineering (IEK-14) at Forschungszentrum Jülich. He studied chemistry at the Ruhr University in Bochum and received his PhD in chemistry from the University of Leipzig. He then worked for two years as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Leipzig on projects dealing with the catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxide emissions. In 1999, Dr. Pasel moved to Forschungszentrum Jülich as a research associate and became head of the "Chemistry of Fuel Gas Production" group in 2005.
The focus of Dr. Pasel's scientific work is on the development of catalysts for the synthesis of future fuels. Dr. Pasel is the author of numerous publications on fuel gas production (fuel processing) and different desulfurization processes. He is a recognized reviewer for scientific publications in these areas.
