Fundamental Electrochemistry (IET-1)
At the IET-1, we develop new key technologies in the areas of electrochemical energy storage and conversion in order to advance the energy transition and the structural change in the Rhineland area.
The Institute of Energy Technologies (IET) develops and investigates technologies for the conversion and storage of renewably generated electrical energy. To keep pace with the rapid growth in power generation from solar and wind, rapid solutions must be found for the efficient and cost-effective conversion and storage of electrical energy, as well as its multiple uses in industry, commerce, and mobile applications. The aim is to balance out regional and temporal fluctuations in the supply of electrical energy and to ensure that relevant energy sectors will become CO2-neutral and, wherever possible, CO2-negative.
