High-throughput process-microstructure-property screening

High-throughput manufacturing and processing enable the rapid creation of materials with various microstructures. For example, additive manufacturing combining with powder metallurgy can produce microstructures with chemical gradients and variations in processing conditions such as temperature and heat-cooling rates.

By integrating these methods with microstructural characterization and high-throughput micromechanical testing, we can efficiently map the full process-microstructure-property relationship. This approach generates a wide range of microstructures with well-documented processing histories and quantitatively measured mechanical properties, and will accelerate materials development.
