Tommaso Calarco Elected to acatech

Prof. Dr. Tommaso Calarco, Director at the Peter Grünberg Institute "Quantum Control" (PGI-8), and Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Cologne is a new full member of the acatech - German Academy of Science and Engineering.

The physicist, along with other scientists and experts from diverse fields such as engineering, natural sciences, humanities and the social sciences were elected at the Academy's General Assembly. Through the election, acatech recognises the respective scientific work of the experts and invites them to contribute their expertise in an advisory capacity to help shape policy and society.

Members of acatech are involved in interdisciplinary working groups and advise politics and society on issues relating to the future of science and technology policy. They also support the transfer of knowledge between science and industry and promote the next generation of technology scientists.
