Peter Schüffelgen receive Jülich Excellence Award

Jülich, 10. September 2019

Dr. Peter Schüffelgen received the Jülich Excellence Award for his work on Josephson junctions with topological insulators. He developed a technology for the in-situ fabrication of these devices, which led to an extremely high transparency of the superconducting contact. This high transparency is a prerequisite to induce topological superconductivity via the so-called proximity effect. In such systems, Majorana states are predicted, which could be suitable as robust quantum states for quantum computing. Peter Schüffelgen was able to find signatures of bound Majorana states in the in-situ fabricated devices.
