Quantum Knowledge

The quantum world works according to bizarre rules. Experts use strange terms to describe their research. Here is a little clarification.

Basic terms

Quantum coherent state

Simply cutting out interference

They say that everyone makes mistakes. When errors occur more and more often, however, it can become a nuisance. This is exactly what is happening with today’s quantum computers: their computing units, the quantum bits, are extremely susceptible to disturbances, and thus to errors. Researchers at Jülich are looking for ways to find and correct these errors.

Qubit types

Superconducting qubits
Semiconductor qubits
Trapped ion qubits
Hybrid qubits

Quantum systems
