Since more than thirty years I'm exploring the ground state properties of condensed matter, where insight is provided by density functional theory with suitable extensions. Properties like magnetic structure, elastic constants or responses to fields are calculated on a quantum-mechanical basis. Currently, I concentrate on magnetic properties and spin-orbit effects in (quasi) low-dimensional systems like surfaces or interfaces. More can be found here.
