Leading the Multiscale Neurodevelopment Team
The Multiscale Neurodevelopment Team studies the maturation of cytoarchitecture, connectivity and functional dynamics across early life. Developmental changes are profound and multi-factorial. We aim to use our multiscale frameworks to better understand neurodevelopmental disorders.
Our research program is inspired by working at the interface of microscopy, neuroimaging and computational modelling. We combine post mortem data (histology and transcriptomics) with in vivo imaging (structural and functional MRI, intracranial EEG) to construct multiscale models of the human brain. We hold a special focus on microstructure, as a sort of lynchpin between post mortem and in vivo datasets, and work towards identifying overarching principles of cytoarchitectural organisation, such as the existence of large-scale gradients.
