About me

I am the head of the Integrated Scenarios department at the Institute Jülich Systems Analysis (ICE-2). I coordinate around 30 scientists, PhD students, and master students with a research focus on the assessment of regional and international energy systems, complexity reduction in mathematical optimizations, and the integration of artificial intelligence methods and research data management in energy system analyses. I studied Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration with a specialization in energy technology at the RWTH Aachen University in Germany until 2016 and received the degree of Dr.-Ing. from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in 2020, with a thesis focused on the techno-economic feasibility of energy autonomy in regional energy systems. Along with my experience, I have led and coordinated several research projects in collaboration with scientific and industrial partners and has authored publications in journals such as Nature Energy, Joule, and The Innovation.

Head of the research department "Integrated Scenarios" with 30 staff members (three team leaders, two group leaders, two Postdocs, three research associates, 19 PhD students and two mathematical-technical software developers).

Since 2024: Elected Spokesperson for one of the two Topics (“Energy System Transformation”) of the Helmholtz Program “Energy System Design (ESD; total budget, including third-party funding, in 2025: approximately €38 million). Coordination of the work by DLR, KIT, and FZJ within the topic.
