Master Thesis - Model-Based Investigation of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) Systems
Your Job:
In modern energy systems engineering, the detailed modeling and optimization of fuel cell technologies is a key area of innovation, particularly for applications demanding high efficiency, system integration, and reliable performance. This Masters`s thesis offers an exciting opportunity to model, validate, and compare advanced solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) concepts, with a focus on performance analysis, sensitivity studies, and the integration of efficiency enhancement strategies. Your tasks in detail:
- Selection of appropriate model type and modeling of a SOFC units
- Validation of the model using experimental datasets
- Sensitivity analysis and comparison of the SOFC units with other power generation systems
- Integration of efficiency enhancement strategies at the system level
- Comprehensive literature review and in-depth evaluation and presentation of simulation results
Your Profile:
- Ongoing Master`s studies in process engineering, energy engineering, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field
- Experience in modeling (e.g. using Aspen, AVEVA, Python) is an advantage but not required
- Knowledge of thermodynamics, process engineering, and electrochemistry is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to show initiative and work independently
- Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills
- Very good knowledge of German and/or English, both written and spoken
