Science Bridges: Our Way to Capacity Building

Science Bridges are one of the formats used to organize cooperation activities within partner networks in emerging economies and developing countries. They provide a platform for conducting joint research projects, establishing training programmes, and implementing knowledge- and technology-transfer projects. Science Bridges alumni (doctoral students and postdocs) are crucially important when it comes to sustainably expanding cooperation arrangements. They ensure that the research is consolidated by revisiting the scientific issues in subsequent projects and by continuing work on these topics. Jülich is currently involved in two Science Bridges.

Science Bridge Palestine

Palestinian-German Science Bridge (PGSB)

The Palestinian-German Science Bridge is a pilot project that is being financed by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). It is a joint venture involving Forschungszentrum Jülich and the Palestinian Academy for Science and Technology (PALAST), which aims to develop a joint research and education programme in the Palestinian territories.

Science Bridge Georgia

Georgian-German Science Bridge (GGSB)

The Georgian-German Science Bridge pools the collaboration between seven institute divisions at Forschungszentrum Jülich, RWTH Aachen University, and a consortium of five Georgian universities.

IMP-EGH Master’s Programme

Through the International Masters Programme in Energy and Green Hydrogen (IMP-EGH), Forschungszentrum Jülich and RWTH Aachen are training students in West African countries on the innovative topic of green hydrogen.
