After getting a small insight into the topic of "Intercultural Awareness" at the first Postdoc Retreat last year, we would now like to offer a one-day training on this topic for postdocs. Dr. Merjam Wakili, last year's speaker on this topic, would now like to dive a little deeper into this topic with you and strengthen your intercultural competence together.

Why is Intercultural Awareness important at all?

In a world of increasing globalization, the ability to acquire intercultural competencies is becoming more and more valuable. Especially in science we find ourselves in highly complex international settings and have to learn to communicate and cooperate.

Content:

• What is culture?
• Cultural Dimensions – Understanding Critical Incidents
• Achieving intercultural competence – What does that mean?
• Cognitive biases – Why does my brain need shortcuts?
• Talking about conflicts in international contexts

Target group:

Mainly Postdocs. If places are available, doctoral researchers are also welcome to attend.

Registration:

Please register online until 20.05.2022.

Please note that we have hired an external trainer for this event and your registration is therefore binding. The participation is free of charge.
