J-NEUROTECH

The 2nd Jülich Workshop on Neurotechnology and Neuroengineering, will take place on November 17–18, 2026, at Forschungszentrum Jülich.

The workshop will bring together leading researchers at the interface of neurotechnology, neural engineering, bioelectronics, and biointerfaces to discuss emerging challenges, recent technological advances, and future directions in the field.

Following the success of the inaugural edition, which brought together local participants and internationally recognized invited speakers, including Jose Garrido, Nako Nakatsuka, Yoeri van de Burgt, and Dante Muratore, this second edition will expand to a broader international audience.

The scientific program will feature invited keynote talks by leading researchers including: 

• Dr. Achilleas Savva – Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands
• Prof. Andreas Hierlemann – ETH Zürich, Switzerland
• Prof. Bernhard Wolfrum – Technical University of Munich, Germany
• Prof. Laura De Laporte – RWTH Aachen University & DWI - Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials, Germany
• Prof. Paolo Netti – University of Naples Federico II & Italian Institute of Technology, Italy
• Prof. Maria Asplund – Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden
• Prof. Simon Musall – RWTH Aachen University & Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany
• Prof. Marcello Ienca – Technical University of Munich, Germany

Furthermore, the program will also include a panel discussion with editors from Nature and Wiley (Giovanni Maria Matrone, Matteo Cucchi, and Valeria Caprettini) and Poster presentations.

A Best Poster Award, sponsored by Advanced Electronic Materials, will be presented during the workshop. Selected contributions will also be considered for a special issue of Advanced Electronic Materials.

The workshop aims to foster scientific exchange, interdisciplinary discussions, and new collaborations across the neurotechnology community. Early-career researchers are especially encouraged to participate by presenting their work during the poster session.

Participation is free of charge. Please note, however, that registration is required, and the workshop is limited to 150 participants. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
