Partnership strengthened - new major project with the ESS

A new major contract with ESS, the world's largest future spallation neutron source (in Lund/Sweden) has been won by the FZJ and will be realized by ZEA-1 in the future. This is the so-called moderator-reflector system, a core component of the ESS, without which no neutron research is possible. With an order volume of around € 4.5 million, ZEA-1 will plan, design and manufacture the approx. 6.5 m long and 13 ton unit over the next three years, which will be used to moderate or slow down the neutrons released in the target and guide them to the various instruments.
