Shaping change

That is the driving principle at Forschungszentrum Jülich. Our projects make effective contributions to solving major societal challenges, for the digitalised society, a climate-friendly energy system and resource-conserving economies. This is achieved in the fields of information, energy and bioeconomy, among others, through close cooperation in ITE, through the use of specialised technologies and the many years of experience of our staff.
Not everything we do can simply be categorised into research areas of the FZJ. Research questions, developments and joint planning result in approaches and scientific focal points in the building. One of the strengths of ITE lies in the combination of competences with the long-standing expertise of the staff. For example, in glass solder development or in the development of new types of welding processes. Since the boundaries of what is possible are being pushed at ITE, we know what is possible and work accordingly with partner institutes. This enables us to turn ideas into products and research results of cutting-edge research.
This is the basis for our key competences and focus areas in which we set impulses: Miniaturisation, development of measuring instruments and enabling groundbreaking research.
Science knows no country, because knowledge belongs to humanity, and is the torch which illuminates the world.
The science and research of ITE and Forschungszentrum Jülich is international. Prof. Dr. Ghaleb Natour has been engaged in science diplomacy for decades with the aim of building bridges to promote science and peace through cross-border cooperation. The basis for this is, among other things, scientific cooperation.
