PGI-9 Research is Highlighted in Nature Communications Engineering

The research conducted at PGI 9 on GeSn nanowire transistors, published in the Nature Portfolio journal Communications Engineering, has been honored as one of the journal's Research Highlights of 2023.

This paper presents a significant advancement in the field of CMOS beyond silicon, detailing the development of vertical p- and n-type Ge/GeSn nanowire MOSFETs. This breakthrough marks the first time a CMOS inverter using high mobility GeSn nanowire transistors, demonstrating the significant potential for integrating these transistors into logic gates applications. A notable aspect of this research is the low energy consumption of these transistors at cryogenic temperatures, which holds promising implications for CMOS-based control circuitry in quantum computing, particularly in the operation of quantum bits.
