Quantum Photonics - AG Kardynal

About

In Beata Kardynał’s group, we explore the interactions of light with semiconductor nanostructures and defects that could facilitate spin-photon interfaces to electrically controlled spin-qubits.  We focus on direct bandgap bulk semiconductors, but we also explore two-dimensional materials. In two-dimensional materials, we study excitonic processes in semiconductors and hBN, proximity effects in their heterostructures, and dynamics of spin- and orbit moments in layered magnetic insulators

Research Topics

  • Spin-photon interface for electrically controlled spin-qubits in semiconductors.
  • Ultra-low energy ion implantation for two-dimensional materials.
  • Excitonic states in TMDCs and their heterostructures.
  • Magnetic properties of CrX3 under light excitation.
