The Centre for Advanced Simulation and Analytics – CASA for short – is breaking new ground in data science and simulation. CASA combines recent advances in data science and simulation with research into the possibilities of a digitalized society, a climate-friendly energy system, and a resource-efficient economy.
High-performance computing (HPC) significantly accelerates the development of expertise in the areas of data analytics, artificial intelligence and model-based simulation. This enables rapid deployment in the natural sciences, life sciences and engineering at Forschungszentrum Jülich.
CASA helps to
- promote synergies between data science and simulation
- optimally expand Jülich’s interdisciplinary research portfolio
- advance the use of HPC systems and data infrastructures
- pave the way towards the exascale age of scientific computing
- facilitate access to application software on top-tier HPC systems
CASA Labs
The operating units of CASA are the CASA Simulation and Data Labs (SDL), in which cross-disciplinary teams work on research questions from various application areas. So far, the following CASA-SDLs have been established.
CASA-SDL Numerical Quantum Field Theory (NQFT)
CASA-SDL Neuroscience
CASA-SDL Climate Science
CASA-SDL Terrestrial Systems
CASA-SDL for Energy Materials (EM)
CASA-SDL Healthcare
CASA-SDL for Digital Bioeconomy (DBE)
CASA-SDL Quantum Materials (QM)
In addition to the domain-oriented CASA-SDLs, the method-oriented hubs of the Helmholtz Incubator Platforms, Helmholtz AI and HMC, which are located at Forschungszentrum Jülich, are also represented in CASA.
