On 21 July, the proceedings of the BrainComp workshop on brain-inspired computing were published by Springer LNCS. BrainComp is a workshop series that brings together brain researchers and computer scientists to drive innovation, and to enable new insights into the brain and the basis of biological information processing.

The Jülich Supercomputing Centre operates computers of the highest performance class. In the SMHB we co-design modular supercomputing, interactive supercomputing and scalable data infrastructures towards exascale through use cases from neuroscience.

We develop scalable methods for data analytics and simulation to cope with the enormous size and multiscale complexity of the brain. Productive loops between theory, simulation, data analytics and empirical neuroscience are created.

We build 3D models of the human brain at the level of individual cells and nerve fibers by processing image data in the range of Terabyte to Petabyte. This is only possible by developing complex distributed workflows on the Supercomputing systems in Jülich.
