About me

I studied physics in Bristol and plasma physics at Imperial College London before embarking on a European postdoctoral journey including CEA Saclay and the University of Jena. I joined JSC in 2001, helping to found one of the first Simulation Labs - Plasma Physics - in 2008, while also assuming administrative duties as head of the Computational Science Division (2009-2022). For the last 10 years I have held a part-time appointment at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven teaching computational physics. More recently I ventured outside FZ-Jülich to work in the fusion energy industry, but have returned to the lab in 2024 as co-head of the division HPC in Applied Sciences and Engineering.
