Moritz Helias is the group leader of “Theory of multi-scale neuronal networks" at IAS-6, Jülich Research Centre and a professor at the Department of Physics at RWTH Aachen. He studied physics in Hamburg, obtained a PhD in computational neuroscience in 2009 from the University of Freiburg, Germany. He has been postdoctoral researcher at the RIKEN Brain Science Institute in Wako-Shi, Japan and at the Juelich Research Centre. In 2014 he obtained a Helmholtz Young Investigator's group, in 2015 he became junior professor in Physics at RWTH and since 2022 he is full professor at RWTH in physics. His research focuses on statistical physics of neuronal networks with the goal to understand collective states and information processing in biological systems as well artificial ones.
