About me

I am a philosopher, attending to a range of questions from theoretical to applied philosophy. My main interests cluster around interdisciplinary topics in the philosophy of mind, cognitive sciences, and ethics. I recently published my book "Selbstbewusstsein und Perspektivität" (2023, Springer), which is about the necessary conditions for the acquisition of self-consciousness and for what I call "full perspectivity with regard to the enabling roles of the second-person perspective and joint attention. I also wrote articles on neuroethics, neuro-enhancement and the ethical implications of AI applications.

In this working group, my main focus is on AI ethics, connected to questions about the ethical evaluation and implication of AI technologies in different application areas, for instance, the medical context. Further, I work on theoretical arguments concerning the concepts of agency, decision, autonomy, and trust in application to AI technologies and analyze the impact these concepts have on our evaluations of the prospects and risk assessments of AI technologies.

Since 2024 I also work in the project Research Hub Neuroethics which is funded by the BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research).
