At Forschungszentrum Jülich, I received excellent guidance, strong support and the freedom to develop my research facilitating an environment that helped me grow and led to the opportunity to set up a business.
Rachel Maier co-founded the start-up Twinetic whilst still working on her PhD and took on entrepreneurial responsibilities alongside her academic work. Together with her master thesis supervisor and other team members, she helped grow the company from its initial idea into a fully-fledged business. She later joined Twinetic and became head of the research and development department, leading the development of intelligent software for operational energy management. In addition to research and development, as part of the founding team she is also involved in funding rounds, sales structures and partner management.
Forschungszentrum Jülich is characterised by a large number of highly qualified staff, whose expertise forms the basis of our scientific excellence and innovative capacity. Many researchers are actively involved in joint projects with industry partners, applying their specialist knowledge to application-oriented challenges and practical solutions. Our strong focus on interdisciplinary collaboration enables our teams to develop better solutions and translate scientific findings into technologies relevant for future industrial applications. Through their daily work in collaborative research environments, our staff play a central role in knowledge transfer, the development of innovations and long-term partnerships with industry.
