IAS Seminar: Effective field theory on the lattice: Ab initio calculations of nuclei and many-body systems

Start
26th June 2012 08:30 AM
End
26th June 2012 09:30 AM
Location
Institut für Kernphysik, Seminar Room, building 7.1, room 312

Speaker:

Dean Lee, North Carolina State University

Contents:

Effective field theory provides a systematic approach to interacting quantum systems at low energies and densities. Lattice effective field theory combines this approach with non-perturbative lattice methods. I discuss recent applications of lattice effective field theory to the physics of neutron matter and nuclei. I also discuss new developments and ideas in the field.
