The ’Distributed Resource Management Application API (DRMAA)’ working group of the Open Grid Forum (OGF) standardization organization develops and maintains a set of API specifications for tightly coupled and portable programmatic access to cluster systems. This talk will present how DRMAA facilitates the development of portable application programs and high-level libraries such as OGSA-BES, which is one of the key standardized interfaces in middleware for the Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) US e-Science infrastructure.
Resource Management System (RMS) (aka batch systems) vendors can provide a standardized access to their product through a DRMAA implementation. High-level API designers, meta-scheduler architects and end users can rely on such DRMAA implementations for a unified access to RMS systems in order to avoid numerous vendor-specific adapters. The scope of the talk is around job submission, job control, reservation management, and retrieval of job and machine monitoring information.
Anyone interested is cordially invited to participate in this seminar.
