Abstract:

MPI supports some rich functionality such as acceptance of messages from any process, out-of-order message handling, etc. In order to achieve sufficient performance, however, the memory consumption increases linear to the number of processes. In exa-scale environment, it can hinder the scalability of applications severely. To achieve sustained scalability on both of the performance and the memory, we are designing and implementing a new communication library ACP (Advanced Communication Primitives). It provides RDMA (Remote Direct Memory Access) interfaces as a basic layer and programmer-friendly interfaces as a middle layer. This talk introduces detailed specification of the ACP library. To improve the usability of the library, we would like to ask for opinions and requirements on the interfaces from programmers of large-scale applications.
