Magnetic amplification analysis in poultry farming for flexible screening of infectious diseases and antibiotic resistance
The aim of MAGniFlex is to collect, record and evaluate information on poultry health, husbandry and management conditions more efficiently within farms and to be able to exchange this information with stakeholders in the value chain across farms. The development of mobile rapid test methods for the detection of bacterial pathogens, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) profiles and antibiotic (AB) residues, as well as a highly integrative and digital data collection platform, will enable the targeted derivation and implementation of preventive and interventional hygiene measures and the prevention of the spread of AMR in the poultry industry. To this end, the development and combination of four key innovations are focused on:
1. optimized sampling strategy for enrichment of specific pathogens from complex sample matrices using phage-mediated nanoprobe-based magnetic separation (NBMS).
2. rapid on-site detection for pathogen-specific gene sequences and AMR profiles using loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP)-based magnetic method (MAGniLAMP)
3. rapid on-site detection for qualitative and quantitative residue analysis of AB by competitive magnetic immunodetection (cMID)
4. user-friendly and cloud-based data collection platform with connected app (MAGniWARE) for cross-stage data collection and analysis.
