VeSPoTec (Verification in a Complex and Unpredictable World – Social, Political and Technical Processes) is an interdisciplinary research consortium comprising RWTH Aachen University, Forschungszentrum Jülich, TU Darmstadt, and the University of Duisburg-Essen. Partners include the University of Vienna and the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation. The project examines the verification of commitments to nuclear non-proliferation, arms control, and disarmament in an increasingly complex global environment. Within the consortium, Forschungszentrum Jülich contributes its expertise in nuclear verification research, with a particular focus on safeguards and integrated verification concepts. The focus here is on safeguards under crisis conditions and the irreversibility of nuclear disarmament.
