Three APS “Outstanding Referees 2022” at PGI
05 April 2022
For the first time in the same year, three PGI research scientists have been recognized by the American Physical Society (APS) as outstanding reviewers: Dr. Christoph Friedrich (PGI-1/IAS-1), Prof. Dr. Eva Pavarini (PGI-2/IAS-3) and Dr. Gianluigi Catelani (PGI-11). Through these awards, the APS, an organization committed to advance and diffuse the knowledge of physics, expresses its gratitude to the recipients “for their outstanding service to the physics community”.
Since 2008, the APS has honoured around 150 active referees each year as part of the “Outstanding Referee” programme, based on 40 years of records from over 82,000 referees. The selection process takes into account the quality, number and timeliness of their reports, without regard for membership in the APS, country of origin, or field of research. So far, a total of 19 employees of Forschungszentrum Jülich have received the award, including numerous scientists from the PGI.
