Creativity and new ideas at the PGI-7 Institute Retreat, Burbach, Aug. 27-29

Working together on a high level requires a strong team – During the PGI-7 institute retreat, around 50 PGI-7 colleagues (students, PhDs, Postdocs, Engineers, Technicians, PIs, administration and director) gathered for 3 days of scientific exchange, discussion, and creative thinking.

The workshops were organized to generate new ideas for future projects and to define and adjust the research directions of the institute under the leadership of Prof. Regina Dittmann. To foster creativity, we implemented ‘lateral thinking’ strategies and collected inputs and ideas from all perspectives across the group, which were then streamlined by topic experts. Key project ideas will now be implemented in focus groups that further elaborate on the suggested topics, including exploring novel approaches to neuromorphic computing, implementing new materials & paradigms for nanoelectronics, and interfacing quantum computing (QC) and neuromorphic computing (NC) concepts.

It was a great experience for the entire group, specifically due to the active participation of all group members. Besides generating new ideas, bonfire with Marshmallows, card games and joint sports activities supported the team spirit across the whole group.
