Compound Semiconductor Nanostructures for IT

The continually increasing demands on information and global communication and the incessant acceleration of developments in the IT industry call for a multidisciplinary material science based approach to solve challenges with respect to security requirements and environmental compatibility of the production techniques involved. Our group deals with solutions for low energy consuming (opto)electronics, fast communication, highly secure systems and environmentally friendly production technologies. We optimize and create suitable compound semiconductor materials, devise structures and innovative device concepts/layouts with them, and exploit novel physical phenomena and techniques and thereby contribute to progress in future optical communication, data storage and advances in nanotechnology.
