Warum und woran ich forsche
In March 2025, I joined the INW-2, where I investigate heterogeneous catalysts for the oxidative lactonization of diols that are either bio-based or derived from plastic waste, to use these compounds as liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHC). As model system, I work on the 1,4-pentanediol/gamma-valerolactone couple.
In 2023 I obtained a Ph.D. in Bioscience Engineering at KU Leuven (BE) on electrophilic amination of arene C-H bonds. Before working at the FZJ, I conducted a postdoc focusing on polyoxazolidinone synthesis and the removal of additives from end-of-life polyurethane foams at the CAT Catalytic Center (RWTH Aachen).
