Miro Miranda Lorenz received a PhD in computer science from the RPTU University of Kaiserslautern-Landau in collaboration with the University of Groningen in 2026. His work focused on large-scale multimodal learning for Earth Observation applications. Before he received a master's degree from the University of Bonn and a bachelor's from the University of Giessen.
In 2022, following a research stay at the PhenoRob Cluster of Excellence at the University of Bonn, he joined the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) as a research scientist. He worked in the Smart Data & Knowledge Services Department and the Earth and Space Applications Team.
After completing his Ph.D., he worked as a senior researcher and project leader at DFKI on time series analysis for agricultural applications. Since 2026, he has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Juelich Supercomputing Centre of Forschungszentrum Juelich in Germany, working on high-performance computing for earth observation foundation models.
