About me
Dr. Anna Windmueller received her Ph.D. from RWTH Aachen University, Germany, in 2019, focusing on the synthesis and structural characterization of active materials for electrochemical energy technologies. She previously studied mineralogy and crystallography at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, establishing a strong foundation in materials chemistry and structure–property relationships. In 2021, she joined Forschungszentrum Jülich (IET-1), where she initially worked on post-lithium-ion battery technologies. She further expanded this research during a visiting fellowship at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology in 2023/24, supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council. Currently, she leads the Materials & Components Development group, focusing on sustainable materials for low-temperature water electrolysis. Her research combines materials synthesis, multiscale structural characterization and electrochemical analysis to understand and improve membranes, electrodes and their interfaces in PEM and AEM water electrolyzers. Her broader goal is to translate fundamental structure–property relationships into durable, resource-efficient components for scalable green-hydrogen production.
