Innovations for the hydrogen economy

The Jülich Research Centre is your partner for developing solutions for the hydrogen economy – from socio-economic considerations and future scenarios right through to research into electrolysers and fuel cells, as well as transport, storage and utilisation in the form of derivatives. Our activities range from cutting-edge research (TRL 1–2) to enabling ‘Made in Europe’ production of hydrogen technologies (TRL 7–8) through our manufacturing network.

The ideal R&D partner across the entire value chain of the hydrogen economy.

We analyse
Systems research: In search of the energy system of tomorrow. How can we achieve a greenhouse gas-neutral energy system in a cost-effective manner? What innovative materials and technologies are we developing, and how important is the role of hydrogen in the energy system?

We research, develop and implement
Materials research: The unsung heroes of progress. How can we store and convert our energy efficiently? How do we produce hydrogen, synthesis gas or electricity using electrolysis and fuel cells? How do we produce and transport hydrogen?

We offer solutions
Hydrogen research: A green ray of hope
How can hydrogen, with all its potential, be integrated into the energy system of the future?

We are modernising our production facilities
Manufacturing networks: Innovative planning and implementation
