Nature Communications: New study on ceramides published
Certain fat molecules in the blood are considered promising candidates for the early detection of diseases such as diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular diseases. An important role is played here by so-called ceramides, which indicate disease-related adaptation processes in the body. In a collaborative study, in which researchers from Forschungszentrum Jülich (IBG-5), the University of Vienna, and teams of scientists from Singapore and Espoo were significantly involved, important progress has now been made in establishing reference values for ceramides.
