Pilot project: disposable polystyrene lab ware recycling

Research is to be carried out in high-quality disposable lab ware. Can it be reintroduced into recycling?

In a pilot project of the institute IBI-2 and UHL GmbH, disposable polystyrene lab garbage has been collected over six months.

The collected material was send to UHL GmbH and REBEL FIN Co. to test what extent it can be used for in the manufacture of new products.

The collected material was send to UHL GmbH and REBEL FIN Co. to test what extent it can be used for in the manufacture of new products.

The project's ultimate goal is to develop a product from the high-quality recycling polystyrene that goes back to Jülich and can be used again in the laboratory. In the whole process a saving of about 50% CO´2 is realized.
