The 'Microstructure Characterization' research group, as a scientific and technical infrastructure group of IMD-2, carries out experimental investigations on the micro/nano-structure, the chemical composition in the micro range, the phase composition and the crystal structure of metallic and ceramic materials. This includes materialography and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy-dispersive element analysis (EDX).
