Brain health: “EduBrains” training program on future-relevant e-technologies for research and innovation in the field of brain health research

Jülich, 20 May 2025 - Success for “EduBrains,” the training program organized by EBRAINS Germany, is one of the interdisciplinary series of events that the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) will be funding over the next two years in the “Future eHealth” funding priority. With “EduBrains”, around 40 students and doctoral candidates in STEM subjects will gain access to a specialized, interdisciplinary training and education program in the field of future-relevant e-health technologies for brain-health research. An open call for applications will be published in July 2025.

The aim of “Future eHealth” is to promote highly qualified, interdisciplinary scientists at the interface of STEM and medicine in the fields of information technology, data science and artificial intelligence.

„EduBrains“: Trainingsprogramm E-Health-Technologien für die Hirn-Gesundheitsforschung

As part of “EduBrains”, participants will get to know the European digital research infrastructure EBRAINS. Participants will learn new techniques and acquire new skills to address scientific and clinical questions in brain health research using state-of-the-art methods and FAIR data. The training program will familiarize students with the necessary theoretical, technical and applied concepts required to create innovative research plans, develop new technologies and translate them into clinical solutions. In addition, the program includes training on ethics, dual use, data protection and FAIR Open Science.

“EduBrains” offers students a unique opportunity to network with national and international initiatives and institutions as well as renowned scientists. In addition, participants learn how interdisciplinary collaboration drives scientific progress from basic research to medical and technical applications for the benefit of society.

The series of events comprises a total of seven modules over a period of 24 months, which are planned as in-person and online events. The in-person events will take place at Forschungszentrum Jülich and the European Institute for Neuromorphic Computing in Heidelberg.
