German team wins at IPT 2024 in Zurich

Together with the German team, Christian Schäfer (PGI-9) secured first place at the International Physicists' Tournament in Zurich. Twenty-one teams participated in the tournament and presented remarkable solutions to the given problems. In the final round, the German team won against the team from Italy.

The German participants were tasked with solving Problem 17, "Thermal Snail," which required the construction of an autonomous device that uses thermal expansion to move due to daily temperature fluctuations.

Congratulations to Christian Schäfer and his teammates Pablo Margono (RWTH Aachen), Lena Edenhofer (LMU Munich), Noah Hassan & Jona Röhrig (HU Berlin), Lisanne Löher (University of Southern Denmark), as well as the Team Leads Florian Hirsch (University of Heidelberg) and Denise Christovam (Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids).
