Mathematical Physics
About
The Mathematical Physics group at PGI-12 studies a variety of topics employing analytical methods and tools. We approach the problems of interest borrowing from any mathematical theory and we apply relevant higher-level understanding to simple yet informative mathematical models that have potential for applicability ina wide range of concrete physical scenarios. The models considered are usually simple enough to be treated without the need for numerical tools and we aim at obtaining results in terms of mathematical equations, techniques or theorems.
In this sense, our group is typically motivated by understanding the underlying formal structure of physical process and theories, rather than characterizing specific systems per se, with an eye on generality and formal rigour.
