Theoretical Quantum Technology Group

Scalable and fault-tolerant quantum computing

About

Welcome to the Theoretical Quantum Technology Group, based at the Peter-Grünberg-Institute 2 at Forschungszentrum Jülich, and the Institute for Quantum Information at RWTH Aachen University.

Our research focuses on scalable quantum information processing in atomic, molecular and optical (AMO) systems as well as solid-state platforms. A main focus of our research team lies on quantum error correction and quantum fault tolerance.

Research Topics

Main research topics include:

  • Quantum error correction and fault-tolerance
  • Scalable quantum information processing with Rydberg atoms, ions, and superconducting qubits
  • Quantum neural networks
  • Quantum characterisation, validation and verification
  • Quantum simulation of many-body systems
  • Open quantum systems

We pursue our research in close collaboration with leading theoretical and experimental groups in the field, and are involved in a number of national, European and international research collaborations.
