About me
Alexander Bauer studied chemical engineering at Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen. He obtained his Ph.D. working on direct methanol fuel cells at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. His post-doctoral research included collaborating with Ballard Power Systems and working at the National Research Council of Canada in the fields of PEM fuel cells and metal-air batteries. Activities in the private sector included technology development in the fields of zinc-air batteries, CO2-electrolysis, and sodium-ion batteries at several companies in the United States. Mr. Bauer also gained experience in developing solid-state batteries at IMD-2. Since joining IET-1 in 2021, his focus has shifted to low-temperature electrolysis, and he is currently a technical lead in the KOPERNIKUS-project Power2ValueChemicals to demonstrate CO2-utilization at the mini-plant scale.
