She has a joint appointment between Jülich and RWTH Aachen University, where she accepted the call for a W2 professorship in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.
Francesca Santoro received her bachelor's and master's degrees in biomedical engineering from the University "Federico II" in Naples (Italy) in 2010, specializing in biomaterials. With a scholarship from the International Helmholtz College for Biophysics and Soft Matter (IHRS BioSoft), she obtained her PhD in Jülich and a PhD in 2014 at RWTH Aachen University.
In October 2014, she moved to the Chemistry Department at Stanford University (USA) and received a research grant from the Heart Rhythm Society in 2016.
In July 2017, she moved to the Italian Institute of Technology as a tenure-track researcher and established the Tissue Electronics Laboratory at CABHC in Naples.
