A Step Towards Next-Generation Neuroscience Simulators
Tobias Gemmeke (IDS, RWTH Aachen University) and his group have developed a highly flexible framework called neuroAIˣ, which is composed of a software tool for quickly assessing novel neuromorphic architectures, and a hardware cluster currently formed by 35 Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) boards.
More details can be found in the press release of RWTH Aachen and of course in the original publication in Frontiers of Computational Neuroscience.
This work was funded by the Helmholtz pilot project "ACA: towards multi-scale natural-density Neuromorphic Computing", where several institutes at Jülich Research Centre including INM-6 worked amongst others with the group at IDS to establish the topic Neuromorphic Computing in Jülich and Aachen, as well as NeuroSys and NEUROTEC.
