Outreach & Community Interaction
We develop hands-on training courses about metadata, how to use it for annotating research data and how to structure it in order for it to be machine readable. Further we jointly organize various events regarding metadata such as seminars and workshops and offer ourselves to advise on good practices regarding metadata collection and use in research projects.
Current Training Courses:
Fundamentals of scientific metadata: why context matters. This course features an general introduction to metadata, hands-on sessions in which you learn to write metadata in JSON format and session regarding the data interoperability and the semantic web.
Advising & Consulting: We are eager to exchange with the colleagues, RDM experts, software developers the scientific community and participate in working towards a connected and interoperable metadata landscape that supports tomorrows research. We can learn from each other and are willing to share our experience with you – get in contact: HMC@fz-juelich.de. For example we actively advise during all project phases of the HMC (HMC Funding call)
“Open Seminars” / HMC FAIR Friday: To stimulate and support interdisciplinary exchange, we are jointly organize seminars such as the FAIR Friday lecture series in close cooperation with the Helmholtz Information & Data Science Academy (HIDA). HMC FAIR Friday is aimed at experienced actors in research data management as well as scientists from all research fields of the Helmholtz Association and beyond.
HMC FAIR Friday features talks by high-ranking national and international speakers to bring all participants (even) closer to the world of FAIR data, deepen individual aspects and stimulate discussions.
