Cultural Change in Science

The "cultural change" in research emphasizes openness, collaboration, and transparency. It encourages researchers to share data and methodologies, thereby enhancing reproducibility and accountability, while also promoting meticulous documentation. However, methods for achieving these goals are often not covered in academic curricula. To address this gap, we develop training materials and organize workshops designed to foster collaboration among researchers. These initiatives provide insights into the "mechanics" of information systems and teach hands-on techniques for generating and managing high-quality metadata.

Fundamentals of Scientific Metadata - why context matters (Fundamentals of Metadata course)

The course "Fundamentals of Scientific Metadata – Why Context Matters" provides participants with a foundational understanding of scientific metadata and its critical role in research. It focuses on how metadata — data about data — is essential for ensuring the discoverability, accessibility, and reproducibility of scientific research. Designed for researchers, data managers, and professionals in scientific fields, the course helps enhance participants' understanding of metadata and its role in effective data management and sharing. This course is particularly relevant in the context of the growing emphasis on data quality, reproducibility, and collaboration in modern scientific research.

Outreach and Exchange

Metadata harmonization cannot be achieved in isolation. Therefore, we actively collaborate and participate in several large-scale consortia, projects, and exchange networks. These collaborations enable us to share developments and experiences, pool resources and expertise, and work towards the creation of standardized frameworks that promote interoperability across diverse scientific fields. Below, you can see the areas where we contribute:
